Weird Al Yankovic - Straight Outta' Lynwood
Remember DualDiscs? We barely do!
Back when major labels were still convinced the general public was willing to buy physical media, this new and instantly doomed format was invented.
One side was a standard CD, but flip it over, and you get a DVD featuring high resolution audio, surround sound mixes and maybe a promotional video or two. The discs were actually kind of cool, since they played in standard CD and DVD players, and extra content is always nice.
The writing was on the wall, however, and physical media was on its way out. Most albums that were released in this format have been taken out of print and are relatively hard to find, including Weird Al Yankovic's 2006 release, "Straight Outta' Lynwood." Aside from being a solid offering from Weird Al, featuring parodies of Green Day, R. Kelly and Taylor Hicks, the record contains Al's undisputed anthem: "White and Nerdy."
This was originally bought in a Seattle used record store to serve as a "safety copy" (the previous owner is a bigger Weird Al fan than he cares to admit), and is in decent condition. There are a few surface scratches on both sides of the DD, but it still plays and rips perfectly. There's also a hole punch in the back-insert's barcode. The DualDisc side includes PCM Stereo, 5.1 Surround and instrumental mixes of the entire album (with on-screen lyrics option), plus a 9-minute behind-the-scenes documentary and six music videos.
